Internship

stop-gap projects is looking for an intern! We’re interested in working with an artist (or arts-engaged) person who wants to share their skills and develop some new ones through hands-on experience working with an artist-run gallery.

The intern will also help with curatorial tasks,  promotional efforts, fundraising,  and community outreach. We will also work with the intern to identify experience and skills they would like to develop (writing, exhibition design, art handling, etc) and include them in projects that will be productive and educational.

- Project oriented, able to see something through from start to finish

- Creative and enthusiastic, with willingness to share ideas

- Likes to work collaboratively

- Excellent communication skills and time management

- Sense of humor and ability to be flexible and adaptable

- Enjoys problem solving

- Knowledge and interest in contemporary art

-Familiarity with our programming (you’ve been to the gallery before!)

- Detail oriented and dependable

- Design skills/ photoshop knowledge desirable

-Basic tool use desirable

- Comfortable talking with people, welcoming them to the space, and talking about art

(note that many sorts of skills can be applicable! From having graphic design or video editing skills to social media savvy, to social skills.  Maybe you are good at talking to people about art, maybe you are really good at organizing words or organizing files or tool boxes– or all the above!)

  1. Have you seen a show at stop-gap projects? What is your favorite show you’ve been to/seen?

  2. If you were going to curate an imagined exhibition featuring any two artists, who would you pair together and why? What would the show be called and what would you want to express?
